Mogadishu, Somalia, 15th August 2024 –  WARDI Relief & Development Initiatives has taken a strategic step to boost its fundraising and communication capabilities through a comprehensive 5-day training for senior management. The training, funded by long-time partners BMZ and Action Medeor, focused on equipping WARDI’s leadership with the skills needed to secure sustainable funding and strengthen advocacy efforts.

As WARDI continues to grow, so does the need for sustainable funding solutions. Speaking during the closing ceremony in Mogadishu, WARDI CEO Hussein Dubow expressed his support for the team and encouraged them to keep up the good work.

“This training marks a pivotal moment in WARDI’s journey toward achieving sustainable development goals. I am confident that with this new knowledge and skills, you will continue to carry the WARDI emblem even higher as we continue to serve our communities.” He said.

Mr. Dubow also underscored the importance of our long-standing partnerships, particularly with BMZ and Action Medeor, who generously funded this training.

“Action Medeor and BMZ have been some of our longest friends and partners. Together, we have made impactful change over the years. I am glad that we will continue to work together and contribute to sustainable development goals in Somalia,” he said.

WARDI Focuses on Fundraising for Sustainable Development

The training also facilitated the development of a new communication and fundraising policy, streamlining WARDI’s approach to resource mobilization. Ubah Bulle, WARDI’s newly appointed Communication and Fundraising Manager, spoke on the sidelines of the training about the recent merging of the communication and fundraising departments.

“By merging communication and fundraising, we aim to expand our resource base and ensure the sustainability of our programs. These are uncharted waters for us, but we are here to find sustainable measures for WARDI’s programs, and we can’t do that without making our resource basket bigger than it is,” she said.

The Impact of Fundraising on Sustainable Development

Fundraising is the backbone of our ability to implement and sustain projects that drive meaningful change. With enhanced fundraising capabilities, WARDI can ensure that our initiatives are not only launched but also maintained and scaled to reach even more people in need. The training provided our senior management team with the tools to explore new funding avenues, build stronger relationships with donors, and communicate our mission more effectively.

At WARDI, we understand that sustainable development is a journey that requires continuous learning and adaptation. This recent training is just one of the many steps WARDI is taking to ensure that it remains at the forefront of humanitarian work in Somalia.

A Future of Sustainable Impact

As we move forward, WARDI remains committed to the principles of sustainable development. Our partnership with BMZ and Action Medeor exemplifies the collaborative spirit needed to address the challenges faced by communities across Somalia. Together, we are building a future where every project, every initiative, and every effort is geared towards long-term, sustainable impact.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our donors, partners, and supporters who have stood by us in our mission. Your trust and support empower us to continue making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

WARDI invites you to be part of our journey towards sustainable development. Whether through partnerships, donations, or advocacy, your involvement is crucial to our success. Together, we can continue to create a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
